Thalassotherapy by the North Sea

Thalassotherapy is based on the healing properties of the sea and makes use of a variety of natural resources such as sea salt, mud and aerosols to promote comprehensive relaxation and revitalisation. This special form of therapy can only be experienced by the North Sea, where the pure sea air, combined with targeted treatments such as mud packs or seaweed wraps, reveals its beneficial effects. Numerous spa facilities on the East Frisian Islands and along the mainland offer these specialised treatments, which not only provide deep relaxation but also strengthen the respiratory system and sustainably boost the immune system.

Brine – healing from the depths

It’s not just the sea that provides healing, salt-rich water; another natural salty source comes from deep within the Earth – brine. Brine baths, which are characterised by their high buoyancy, significantly relieve the body underwater and provide soothing relief, particularly for rheumatic conditions and muscle tension. Places such as the Sole Therme spa in Bad Harzburg or the Jod-Sole-Therme spa in Bad Bevensen, located in Lüneburg Heath, offer ideal conditions to experience the positive effects of brine treatments.

Relax & (re-)peat

The healing power of peat’s natural properties has been known for centuries. Peat is an excellent heat reservoir and is rich in nutrients. It has a positive effect on the skin, stimulates circulation, and is especially effective in relieving pain in the muscles, tendons and joints. After a peat treatment, a stroll through the award-winning Bad Pyrmont spa gardens, home to the northernmost outdoor palm garden in Europe, is highly recommended. You could also visit the Park of the Gardens in Bad Zwischenahn, featuring over 90 model gardens and plant collections.

Healthy air and atmosphere in the Harz Mountains

Outdoor exercise promotes good health, strengthens the circulatory system and can help prevent a number of conditions. The Harz Mountains region benefits from a mild climate and clean atmosphere. Its forests provide oxygen-rich air, which has a particularly positive effect on the cardiovascular system and respiratory tract. Three locations, Bad Grund, Altenau and Bad Sachsa, have been awarded the official seal of approval for health resorts with a therapeutic atmosphere. Numerous walking trails throughout the Harz Mountains invite visitors to experience walks in the low mountain landscape.

Osnabrücker Land

The Osnabrücker Land combines unspoilt nature with first-class wellness offerings, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday. Active holidaymakers and nature enthusiasts can recharge in the TERRA.vita Nature and Geopark, with its extensive network of walking trails. The treetop trail in Bad Iburg, with its spectacular views of the surrounding landscape, offers another natural highlight. For wellness and health enthusiasts, the region offers special treatments at three renowned brine health spas. The two salt graduation towers in Bad Rothenfelde, which are among the largest and oldest in Germany, are truly impressive. They are not only functional but also architecturally fascinating and a popular attraction for visitors. At the brine health spa in Bad Laer, guests can enjoy the healing benefits of the 7.2% brine either in the modern SoleVital therapy centre or in the heated outdoor brine pool. In Bad Essen, the unique primordial sea brine is extracted from a depth of 800 metres and can be inhaled as an aerosol in the SoleArena.

Hamelin - a legendary jewel of the Weser Renaissance

Hamelin is located southwest of Hanover in the heart of the Weser Uplands and is known worldwide primarily for the legend of the Pied Piper. This story is brought to life every summer through open-air performances or guided tours with the Pied Piper. But the town has even more to offer: As a true gem of the Weser Renaissance, the Old Town has an enchanting atmosphere, with its stunning half-timbered houses and charming, narrow streets. Buildings such as the Hochzeitshaus (Marriage House) and the Rattenfängerhaus (Pied Piper House) are prime examples of this unique architectural style. The nearby Hämelschenburg Palace, just ten kilometres away, also delights visitors with its impressive Renaissance architecture. Hamelin is also an ideal starting point for cyclists. The town is located directly on the Weser Cycle Route, which has been awarded 4 stars by the German National Cyclists’ Association (ADFC). For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, the region can be enjoyed from the water on a boat trip along the Weser river.
