Maserati MSG Racing continues its adventure in the FIA Formula E World Championship, unveiling its Season 11 competitor: the new Maserati Tipo Folgore for the GEN3 Evo era.
The electric single-seater is taking to the track for pre-season testing taking place at the Circuito de Jarama in Madrid, Spain, from 5 to 8 November. Pre-season testing has been relocated to Madrid due to the recent devastating floods in the Valencia region. Maserati MSG Racing expresses its deepest condolences to the everyone affected at this extremely difficult time.
The car on show has a refreshed design, more aerodynamic bodywork and a new aesthetic that tells the story of 110 years of the Maserati marque’s victories and successes on the track.
The name Maserati Tipo Folgore pays homage to the Trident's full-electric range, symbolising a bridge between the past, present and the future. The livery, in the iconic Maserati blue colour, comes with Rose Gold accents on the rear as a symbol of innovation and electrification. The fusion of the two body colours results in lettering that recalls Maserati’s sporting heritage. On the sides in the interior, an interlocking of the characters of names and dates shows the most significant details of the victories Maserati has collected over the years, thanks to legendary drivers and unforgettable successes on the most prestigious circuits in the world.
“It has been a great honour to work for the third year running on the livery design of our Formula E single-seater. This year's aesthetics, while continuing to build on the brand’s journey of electrification symbolised by the Folgore copper colour, are intended to celebrate Maserati's wealth of history in motorsport with a tribute to the milestones of 110 years of history, an anniversary we’ll be celebrating early next month. The names of those unforgettable champions, the circuits and the dates of the Grand Prix victories therefore appear around the driver's cockpit and project them seamlessly into the future, thanks to our racing DNA”.
The Maserati Tipo Folgore is equipped with the very latest GEN3 Evo package for Formula E, making it the fastest and most efficient car that has ever taken part in the world’s fastest growing motorsport. With a significant evolution in terms of efficiency and performance, no other FIA racing single-seater championship has faster acceleration. The GEN3 Evo goes from 0 to 60 mph in 1.82 seconds (from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.86 seconds), and thanks to the regenerative braking capacity of 600 kW, 50% of the energy used during a race comes from regeneration.
In Madrid, in a key week in the run-up to season 11, Maserati MSG Racing is taking to the track for the pre-championship testing with new drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes alongside Tatiana Calderon and Carrie Schreiner, who will be appearing in the ground-breaking all-female test session on Friday 8 November. The Spanish practice sessions officially kick off Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, due to feature 16 races around the world with São Paulo, Brazil playing host to the first leg on 7 December 2024.
“It continues to be an enormous honour for us to represent such an iconic automotive brand in Formula E. Racing with the now-unmistakable Maserati Tipo Folgore is a major responsibility. Maserati has a formidable pedigree on and off the racetrack and it was our privilege to return the Trident to the top step of the podium in Seasons 9 and 10. With this striking livery that bears witness to Maserati’s impressive motorsport history and the team’s success in the championship, we look forward to battling together towards more landmark victories in Season 11”.
